SINGLE REVIEW - STARGAZED BY CLEARGREEN

Fresh from a summer packed with gigs, including a support slot for Dantevilles, up-and-coming Manchester four-piece indie rock band Cleargreen have released their debut single Stargazed.

The wheels were set in motion for the single back in February 2017, after the band spent several days at Vibe Recording Studios in Manchester.

The studio, formerly owned by New Order, has been graced by many decorated artists including The Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets and The Happy Mondays. It's safe to say that all of these artists have had a considerable impact on the sound of Stargazed, but at the same time Cleargreen manage to produce an original feel to their music.

Produced and recorded by Dean Glover, the single replicates the energy and size of the live sound. Kicking off with a distinctive and gritty bass riff, calling to mind the likes of The Charlatans, before the full band kick in, the first section of Stargazed alone shows that Cleargreen mean business.

Assertive and strongly Mancunian vocals carry a strong and catchy tune, with a memorable "once around the sun" refrain book-ending the chorus, while the instrumentation from the whole band coming across as strong and slick.

Cleargreen are definitely a band that should be caught live; both on record and at their shows, they're bringing an authentic energy and unique offering that is all too rare in the up and coming indie bands of today.
