London group JUDAS are taking festival season by storm, gaining fans across the UK and have another great EP on its way. With the band set to make it big any time now, NRMB caught up with them to hear about their story so far, other up-and-coming bands they love and their slot at Leeds Fest next weekend...

Dominic Penna: What would you say defines you as a band?

Judas: Lager.

DP: Which acts have influenced the style of your music?

Judas: Pretty much all types of music influences our writing style. We listen to a lot of U2, Coldplay, KoL, Stereophonics, Kasabian and but we are always trying to find our own sound and style. We all also are absolute super fans of the Beatles.

DP: You already have an impressive discography - what songs are you most proud of so far?

Judas: We are constantly writing every day, just adding tunes to our library. There's a few songs that we really enjoy playing and I think 'Love Is The Enemy' is our proudest achievement so far, is such a simple song but it works so well and it always goes down a storm live. We've been writing some absolute bangers recently though, so watch this space.

DP: Where do you want to go in terms of your future releases?

Judas: We've got our second 4 song EP coming out in the near future, which we are all so excited about. It's been in the pipeline for ages but we've been waiting for it to be perfect before we release it. We're also hoping to have some music videos to accompany the EP.

DP: Are there any other up-and-coming acts who you'd recommend to our readers?

Judas: So many, Kelvin are boss, we're also big fans of Red House Glory and we played with a band called A/M/B/E/R in Cardiff who were great as well.

DP: You're set to smash Leeds Festival next weekend as part of an amazing Jack Rocks/This Feeling line up! How are you feeling about it?

Judas: Impossible to be more excited. We've played Isle of Wight Festival and Y Not Festival on the Jack Rocks/This Feeling Stage so we know just how popular it is and how well picked the lineup is. Big Love to Mikey for having us play. If is anything like the others we're in for an absolute treat. Were going to have tonnes of free CD's to hand out too, so get to the front if you want one!

DP: Lastly, any words of advice for aspiring bands wanting to make it big?

Judas: No 1. Make sure you are all the best of mates. We have such an amazing time whether we are driving 6 hours to Scunthorpe or playing Main Stage Truck Fest. Couldn't image doing it with anyone else.

No 2. It's all about the songwriting.

No 3. Get a van - if you can travel, then so many more people are going to see your show. Our fan base has increased rapidly since we have been able to play in every corner of the UK!

JUDAS' first EP 'We Are Judas' is out now - their second is on its way shortly. Catch them live at Leeds Festival next weekend, playing the Jack Rocks/This Feeling Stage.
