The latest in a long line of exciting, vital new Manchester bands, Lyerr are set to go far thanks to their huge riffs, infectious choruses and sheer energy. We spoke to them about their evolution as a band so far, the Blossoms effect and their exciting upcoming releases...

Dominic Penna: For those unfamiliar with your music, how would you describe the Lyerr sound?

Lyerr: As a band we're constantly evolving to try and better our previous show but we're definitely heading towards songs with fast chord progressions with songs full of energy and catchy choruses. Songs that people can remember after hearing it played once. We want our music to be uplifting and make people have as much fun listening as we are having when playing.

DP: How does your songwriting process tend to work?

Lyerr: Each of our songs has a completely different writing process, the more layered tracks often take longer, but we feel our best tracks 'Not Going Out' and 'Belladona' both set for future release, have arrived from jamming together in our studio where we can go crazy with ideas and energy.

DP: Your live shows are already gaining a fair amount of hype and acclaim. What can be expected from a Lyerr gig?

Lyerr: We have to thank all our friends for really getting behind our live shows they've been a huge part of our journey and development from our first gig to now. We're certainly growing in confidence with our live shows and if it was up to us, we'd be doing one every night. We try to give as much energy as we can in each of our sets to get everyone jumping and dancing back at us.

DP: Are there any artists out there who you dream of playing live with?

Lyerr: Growing up in Manchester we've been treated to watching some great bands through our teenage years so it's hard to pick a select few. Blossoms have set the benchmark for all up and coming Manchester bands and right now all our goals is to be at the level they're at.

DP: 'N.Y.C.' and 'Miss Bright Ideas' are huge, infectious songs. Any hints as to what's to come from your future music?

Lyerr: We're actually set to release our next single 'Not Going Out' in September which we spent a few days working on over in Sheffield with the legendary Alan Smyth at 2fly Studios. It's a song we tend to end most our shows with and has always gained great reaction live and we are hoping the single will be just as infectious.

DP: Lastly, where would you like to be in a couple of years' time?

Lyerr: We've never really set out goals within periods of times. We're loving gigging in and out of Manchester every week and playing together almost daily and we're just planning to continue to do more of the same, making our live shows the best they can be. We're proud of everything we've done so far in the short time we've been together and hope the public continue to get behind us and support our childhood dreams.

Lyerr's new single 'Not Going Out' is out next month - their tracks 'Miss Bright Ideas' and 'N.Y.C.' are available to download and stream now.
