Slam Dunk Festival- The One Hundred Having already planned the day weeks ago, I knew I'd be starting with a band I'm familiar with- The One Hundred. A lively mix of Heavy Metal, Techno and Grime, they're a great fit to open a festival and really warm up a crowd. Coming out to Wiz Khalifa's 'We Dem Boyz', the whole crowd (which was of impressive size for 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon) were gripped, ready for what would turn out to be one of the tightest performances of the day.
Musically they sounded fantastic, everything was timed and mixed extremely well, and it all hit hard and fast. Opening with their song 'Kingsmen', lead singer Jacob Field had enough energy for every single person at the festival, and had everyone moving straight away. The pits got going throughout the set, with heavier songs such as 'Monster' and 'Breed' really bringing a lot of movement from the 'tough guys' (appropriately named by Jacob himself). Closing with the instantly familiar 'Downfall', smiles spread across the whole band as the crowd shouted their lyrics back at them, the lads quite possibly a little bit in awe of the sheer passion from the masses. The One Hundred will be around for decades to come, and I expect absolutely huge things from them. 8/10 JMH (Edited and refined by Miss E Sheppard)
